SOUL WINNERS PENTECOSTAL Church History

In October 2005, Anglore Chambers along with their kids, her sister & her nephew, were inspired to start having family fellowship in their home, after moving to Pennsylvania & was unable to find a church that would fulfill their spiritual needs. Over a period of time other families joined in & fellowship with them. 

On December 04, 2005, the Chambers’s, along with Pastor Felix Whiskey as their leader & eight (8) other members congregated at the Forks Township Community Center for the first official Soul winners Pentecostal Sunday service. On December 25th, three new members were added to the soul Winners Pentecostal church family & on January 29, 2006, Pastor Felix Whiskey preached his farewell sermon. 

On February 11th, 2006, the Chambers’s sponsored Soul Winners Pentecostal’s first gospel concert, where they provided food & entertainment to the entire community free of cost. They brought in guest artists from all over, including Minister Hopton Lewis, Wendy Mitchell & Bridgette Blutcher, which turned out to be a huge success. 

On Sunday March 4th, 2006, Soul Winners Pentecostal relocated to the Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township. God had seen it fit to add to Soul Winners Pentecostal’s church family & the numbers grew to thirty (30). It was then that the church appointed Pastor Peter Piper from Redemption Tabernacle to serve as spiritual leader & covering pastor for Soul Winners Pentecostal Church Inc. On April 14, 2006, we had our 1st official board meeting, where the first deacon and deaconess offices were instituted. Since then, the church is continually being blessed with teachers, singers, musicians & many more advocates for Christ.

Soul Winners Pentecostal had their first group outing in August 2006, when they treated the children to a day of fun & entertainment at Dorney Park & Wild Water Kingdom. Also, in August 2006, Evangelist Philbert Wynn from Jamaica, joined Soul Winners Pentecostal in its first week of revival, followed by an evangelistic outdoor meeting by the park in Downtown Easton. 

Our 2nd concert was held on October 14th at the Charles Chrin Community Center. We then had our first youth concert, dubbed “Youth Explosion”, featuring the Campbell Sisters from Canada, Travis Finley, Lamar Powell as well as other local artists. All these events were sponsored by the church & were free of cost to the patrons, with refreshments at no extra cost. 

In August 2007 Soul Winners Pentecostal held their 1st annual “Caribbean & American Gospel Fest”, which is our free charity concert that’s usually held at Stevens Park in Allentown, where we provide food, clothing, school supplies & lots of entertainment at no charge; the 1st of which was featured on channel 69news & which also earned us a commendation from the mayor of Allentown two years in a row. Our Pastor who is also the Founder of this ministry, Anglore Chambers; also had the privilege of attending monthly meetings with the mayor of Allentown & other pastors within the Lehigh Valley to discuss how to improve our various ministries as well as the community at large. She was also granted the privilege to minister to inmates as her application for prison ministry was approved by the Lehigh County Prison.

In December of 2007, immediately following our 1-year anniversary ceremony, the church purchased a brand-new GMC church van. This was a well needed venture, as it plays a major role in transporting our members to & from church services & various events. 

Soul Winners Pentecostal is also very active in our outreach ministry, as we make it a point of duty to have regular visits to nursing homes & share the gospel with them, ministering through songs & dance & reading of the Holy Word. We make it a yearly tradition to go caroling at the nursing homes & hospitals, bringing the joy of Christmas to the patients & shut ins. We usually march down the halls singing Christmas carols, making sure to stop in each room to hand out presents or give a Christmas cheer & making each & everyone feel the joy that the Lord has bestowed upon us. We also make charitable donations to other non-profit organizations. In fact, we have been presented with multiple certificates of appreciation from WJCS 89.3 FM as a token for our contribution to their ministry. We have on numerous occasions assisted persons within & outside of our ministry with food, clothing, rent, mortgage & other emergencies when they are met with hard times & has even went as far as getting a family with 3 young children out of a homeless shelter & assisted her with getting back on her feet, we then got her registered with the relevant agencies that was able to provide her with the financial & economic assistance to suit her needs. In addition, our founder has been inspired & seen it fit to add to our outreach program by implementing our newly established “Soul Winners Community Services, Inc.” which is an affiliate of Soul Winners Pentecostal Church. This program is designed to build & unite the community through various after-school, youth & adult learning programs. It also consists of a food bank which is already in operation, distributing food to the community of Easton on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month from 10 A.M. – 12 noon & from 5-7 P.M. respectively.

Our youth department which has had its fair share of ups & downs due to a lack of participation & help in this area is also back in full force, with regular Friday evening fellowship, praise dance groups & a youth choir. Our youth department is also very vigilant with fund raisers for the church & our yearly youth group outings, which usually brings lots of excitement for the summer. In the summer of 2008, we took a few of the children for a weekend of fun at Mensch Mills Conference & Retreat Center. They enjoyed it so much that we decided to return the following year, this time taking a total of 41 children camping for a whole week, providing them with food, fun & educational activities. In August 2011, we sponsored the tickets for a total of 48 members most of which were children, when we treated them to a weekend getaway at Busch Gardens & Water Country USA. Our adult choir which was dormant for a while is also back in full swing.

Other weekly activities conducted by the church include:

v Sunday School & Divine Worship Service on Sundays @ 9:30 A.M. & 11:00 A.M. respectively

v Testimony Service: Sunday evenings @ 5:00 P.M.

v Fasting Service: Monday mornings @ 10:00 A.M.

v Bible Studies on Wednesdays @ 7:00 P.M.

v Youth Fellowship- Fridays 7-9 P.M.

v We also have a free prayer line that is open on weeknights at 9 P.M.

v & of course we are always happy to support & participate in events at neighboring churches.

To date, we have ordained five (5) deacons, one (2) deaconess, two (2) evangelists, seven (7) ministers & two (2) mothers. Some of these that were ordained have however moved on to different paths. We have also officially ordained Pastor Peter Piper as our Bishop. Since the start of our ministry we have had numerous baptismal services, the most recent of which was held on September 29th of 2011, where 2 persons was baptized & received into membership.

Over the years we have had lots of visiting pastors, ministers & evangelists sharing the gospel & their testimonies with us, including a week of Crusade with Bishop Orville “Man-A-Dus” Smith from Jamaica. We have also had lots of ups & downs, & challenges to the point where it caused a split in the ministry where other churches were formed out of our congregation; & there were times where we thought we were not going to make it & was left only to the mercy of God; but through it all we learned to trust in Jesus & we learned to trust in God & so we were able to stand strong; firmly rooted & grounded in His Word.

In August of 2010, we drove pass this beautiful building & saw a for-sale sign. We called the number & made contact with the Realtor, who is also a member of New Creation UCC who had the church up for sale. We met with them & they were able to give us a tour of the building, which we immediately fell in love with. Within a few weeks we put a bid in to purchase the building. We started negotiations with them; & they told us what we needed to do & how to get everything in place & within a few months, we were the proud owners of this beautiful building located at 1913 Freemansburg Ave. Despite the fact that we had do some major renovations, which also included replacing the entire roof, we truly believe that this was indeed a blessing from God; as we got far more than what we bargained for, because everything was just working out smoothly & all in our favor. 

In 2011, we instituted our very own a bible college right here at Soul Winners. Our 1st classes were held on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Our bible school is an extension of Pneuma Life Bible School in NJ, with accreditation from Oral Roberts University of Lifelong Education. The courses consist of various undergraduate & certificate programs, as well as an advance certificate of Theology. 

Today, Soul Winners Pentecostal is giving God thanks for the many souls He has added to our ministry; that is continually growing as we continue to lift up His name on high & give Him glory, honor & praise.
